Thank you for visiting my profile. Let me share a little about myself.
Helping people grow and live a meaningful life has brought me joy since
starting my career 20 years ago. I earned my Master’s of Social Work degree
from MSU in 1999. Since then, I have spent my time helping children and
young adults in a variety of settings including foster care, residential,
outpatient and schools. The most common challenges with which I have helped
are ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ODD, Conduct Disorder, mood disorders,
social challenges, anxiety, Reactive Attachment Disorder and more. I
utilize individual, family and group therapy modalities depending on the
need and the individual/family’s preference.
I have worked in the school setting as a school social worker for the last 7
years. My role is to help students get the most out of their educational
experience. I assist with academic frustration, social skills/friendships,
social media skills, organizational skills, emotional/coping skills,
academic avoidance and more. Additionally, the kids make sure I am well
versed in the latest video games and social media crazes.
Depending on what will be most helpful I use insight-based, strength-based,
family/relational and cognitive behavioral/skill development strategies. I
also have training in art and play therapy which provide younger children
with ways of communicating and working through things.
Diagnoses and treatment strategies aside, I believe that you need to feel
comfortable with your therapist. I also believe that we, as people, try to
do our best, but get stuck some times. I am here to help build on your
strengths, help with growth areas and find solutions that are right for you.
