Robert Mielke, PhD, LP

"Thank you very much for your interest. It is very important that you feel comfortable in setting up an initial appointment with me. So, let me tell you a little about my experience and education. I earned a PhD from Wayne State University in 1988, a Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1985, another Master's Degree from Wayne State University in 1980, and a Bachelor's Degree from Oakland University in 1977. I began counseling people in 1977 and am currently enjoying my 40th year helping those who seek counseling and therapy services.

Over the years as a means of remaining current in the field of psychology, I taught many college level psychology courses from 1985 through 2006. As an Adjunct Professor at Macomb Community College and a Special Lecturer at Oakland University I taught the following courses: Introduction to Psychology, Psychology of Adjustment, Child Development, Lifespan Developmental Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, History of Psychology, Health Psychology, Psychopathology, Sports Psychology, and Human Sexuality.

Currently, I provide counseling and therapy at Mielke & Weeks Psychological Services in Rochester Hills. I have also provided individual and group supervision to more than 50 therapists in the Metro Detroit area. For over 25 years I was employed as a Consulting Psychologist at Macomb Family Services, Eastwood Community Clinics St. John Health System, Macomb County Jail, Clinton Counseling, and Renewal Chrisian Counseling Center. In each of these organizations I provided Therapist Clinical Supervision, Utilization Review, Quality Assurance Services, and served as a presenter on many topics related to the practice of psychology and the delivery of therapy services.

I believe these experiences have taught me an abundance of skills and have provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge in Psychology to help me help you through the challenges you may be facing right now.

I hope this information will help you know me a little better and feel a little more confident in setting up an appointment with me. As always, I will be very happy to answer any questions you may have as you take the big step of scheduling your first appointment. I certainly look forward to getting to know you and promise to help you in any way that I can."----Dr. Mielke
