Erin Buerschen is a clinical psychologist and earned a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology (with a concentration in addiction studies) from the University of Detroit Mercy. She has formal training in conducting psychotherapy that is guided by a psychodynamic style.  This therapy involves formulating an understanding of where emotions and behaviors come from, creating insight, and then working through issues to find a way to cope.

Erin works with children, adolescents, adults and the aging population.  She also has experience working with couples and families.  With a specialization in addiction studies she is able to help with troubling issues such as substance use/abuse (including helping family members to process these issues and cope as addiction is a family disease), food and eating issues, sexual problems, gambling issues, and electronics addiction.

Erin has also worked with many different types of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, other mood disorders including Bipolar, ADHD, personality disorders, and trauma.  She has experience working with individuals and families going through grief and loss.  Erin has experience working with the LGBTQ population and formal training in substance abuse in LGBTQ population.

She also has experience working with a range of different cultural backgrounds and religious affiliations.

Erin is a member of the Michigan Psychological Association.

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Medicare, Medicaid, Priority Health, Health Alliance Plan (HAP), AETNA, Blue Care Network (BCN), United Healthcare, and COFINITY.  Please inquire about other insurances.  Erin is also open to working on a sliding scale as well.
